Tvärträsket

Tvärträsket is put and take in Skellefteå municipality. Blåbergslidens fiskeklubb stocks brown trout and Arctic char. The club plants Arctic char and brown trout. Not a pike water and not Stora Blåbergsträsket next door. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

With brown trout and Arctic char you fish two salmonids that like the cold, clear northern water. Arctic char often sit deeper and cooler than brown trout, especially in heat. The club highlights the sandsjöslända around Midsummer as a highlight for dry-fly fishing, and float tubes are welcome. Planting is in autumn in connection with closure.

Planted fish can sit close to the bank after stocking and then deeper. That is typical of this kind of water.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Lures and flies

For planted brown trout, small spinners, spoons and simple nymphs in olive, black and orange often work when the water is stained. A streamer when the fish are hunting. That is general species tactics, not a recipe we claim is unique to Tvärträsket.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Morning and evening are often nicer than high sun in small forest waters. Check an open permit, ice and the latest stocking with the seller before you go.

This far north the season is shorter and the water cooler, so early summer and chilly days often give more than high summer. Around Midsummer the sandsjöslända hatch can give fine dry-fly fishing.

Getting there

About 40 minutes from Skellefteå according to the club. Wind shelter and toilet at the lake. Not the same pin as Stora Blåbergsträsket to the west. Park where it is signed, not on private land. Fires only at prepared sites unless there is a fire ban.
