Skalltjärn

Skalltjärn is put and take in Munkfors municipality, southwest toward Sunne. Skalltjärn FVF stocks rainbow trout, brown trout and Arctic char. Visit Värmland calls the water put and take with stocking several times a year. Permits are bought from local agents, not via iFiske. We do not sell the permits.

Species

Planted salmonid is what is fished here. Perch does not count on the quota according to the source. This page is Skalltjärnen in Munkfors, the lake with several wind shelters, not Spraktjärn to the east.

With rainbow trout, brown trout and Arctic char you fish three salmonids with different habits. Because craft and echo sounders are banned, all fishing is from the bank, and Arctic char often sit deeper and cooler than the other two.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Here: fly fishing, spin fishing, bait fishing and ice jigging. Craft banned. Dead or live fish as bait banned. Echo sounder banned according to the source. One rod.

Children up to 12 on a guardian’s permit according to the source. The winter road is ploughed only sporadically.

Lures and flies

Small spinners and a nymph toward planted rainbow trout. Arctic char in winter often deeper. Through the ice on ice jigging they take small jigs and mormyshkas with bait, while brown trout wants a more discreet presentation than rainbow trout. The tips are general and therefore not specific to Skalltjärn.

When they bite

Stocking three to four times a year according to Visit Värmland. Not a timetable for the next lorry. Check the agents before you go.

In summer the cool morning and evening sessions usually give most; in winter ice conditions decide and ice jigging takes over.

The map pin sits at Skalltjärnen, Munkfors municipality. Wind shelters north, south and west on the map. Not Spraktjärn and not Klarälven.
