Mellanbäckasjön

Mellanbäckasjön is one of Harasjömåla Fiskecamp’s put-and-take lakes in Olofström municipality. Rainbow trout is stocked here, often together with brown trout. The camp counts three of the eleven light-blue lakes as set up for fly fishing; the area map marks Mellanbäckasjön with FL. Spin fishing and bait fishing belong to other P&T lakes on the site. An ordinary P&T permit covers eleven named lakes. Buy it at reception or via the Swish notice board.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. The camp calls the light-blue lakes put and take. This page is Mellanbäckasjön, not the hire lakes Nedre and Övre Norra Bäckasjön and not Södra Bäckasjön.

Rainbow trout in a narrow forest lake can follow the shoreline early and then sit deeper toward the middle. Typical of that kind of water, not a pattern unique to this lake.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Only fly fishing here, according to the area map’s FL mark and the camp’s split of the light-blue lakes. One rod. Your own boat is not allowed; boats are hired on some other lakes. Groundbaiting is banned. Fishing hours follow the camp.

Buy the permit at reception. When it is closed: the Swish board at the cleaning shed for ordinary P&T lakes. Special lakes must be booked in advance.

Lures and flies

On fly: nymph and streamer. Sinking line when the fish do not show at the surface. The tips are general for rainbow trout in a lake. Leave the spinning rod in the car. Fish one spot properly.

When they bite

Morning and evening are often best. In warmer water rainbow trout often seek depth in the middle of the day. Stocking is decided by Harasjömåla. Check season and ice with the permit seller.

Getting there

The map pin sits north of Ävegylet, between Västra Harasjön and Södra Bäckasjön on the same stretch of road. The lakes in that chain lack names on public maps; the area map places Mellanbäckasjön on the middle one. Drive toward Harasjömåla Fiskecamp, Gillesnäsvägen 39. Take the area map in reception.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota and season belong to the camp and they change.

Give space if someone is already on the jetty or boardwalk. Take your rubbish home. If the lake is closed for stocking, it shows on the seller’s page. Park so rescue and other guests can get through. Follow signs at the water, not only the map pin. The permit covers this water, not the whole site.
