Grundsjön is put and take high on Ryssberget, on the border between Sölvesborg municipality in Blekinge and Bromölla municipality in Skåne. Sportfiskeklubben Regnbågen stocks rainbow trout regularly and looks after jetties, paths and parking. You need a valid permit before you cast; it is sold digitally, and the club also mentions a machine on site.

Species

The main species is planted rainbow trout. That is the fish most people come for, and the one the club keeps going with stocking. Ordinary lake species live in the same water; they are mentioned so you are not surprised if something other than a silvery salmonid takes.

Rainbow trout in a forest lake of this size often go shallow along edges, jetties and sheltered bays, especially in cold water or just after stocking. After a warm spell they can sit deeper and want a longer cast or a sinking fly.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

The club describes the fishing as open for fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing. Around the lake there are several jetties, one of them adapted and close to the parking. That makes it easy to fish from firm ground without wading.

From bank and jetty a light spinning rod with small spoons or spinners works. Fly fishing gives more room along the paths between spots, especially in the lee. Bait fishing is allowed according to the club, but always check current bait rules with the seller before you mix baits.

Lures and flies

For rainbow trout in a lake, small light or silver spinners and spoons in the lighter weights are often enough. Orange, pink and white show well in stained forest water. On fly, classic patterns such as small nymphs, damsel flies and simple streamers are a good start. The tips are general for the species.

Change colour and depth rather than changing spot every five casts. After stocking the fish can sit tight; then it pays to fish a jetty properly before you move on.

When they bite

Early morning and late afternoon are often best, especially in spring and autumn when the surface is cool. Midday on hot summer days can be quieter. Ice and seasonal closure are decided by the club, not this page — check dates with the seller before you go.

Getting there

The lake sits on Ryssberget, with the county border through the water. Paths around the lake are maintained and easy to follow. Parking is by the accessible jetty. On site the club also mentions a permit machine, barbecue sites and wind shelters. Blekingeleden and Skåneleden pass nearby, but you still need a valid permit to fish.

The map pin is the named lake. The municipality in the address is Sölvesborg, which is the side the club works from.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. The club states that permits can also be bought in a machine at the lake. Boat engines are according to the seller not allowed. Quotas, times and what counts as a child permit change — read what applies the day you fish.

The lake is marked as family-friendly because there is parking next to an accessible jetty and the seller describes free fishing for children up to twelve with an adult who has a permit. That does not replace common sense around deep water and a muddy bottom.
