Lilla Avlången

Lilla Avlången is Virsbo Fiskevårdsförening’s second-largest put-and-take lake in Surahammar municipality. The association stocks rainbow trout. The lake lies in the Natura 2000 area Stora Flyten and Stormossen, next to Stora Avlången and Tordyveln. The Avlången permit is sold digitally, but a valid membership card or sport-fishing card is also required.

Species

Rainbow trout is the main species. Arctic char is mentioned in Stora Avlången, not here. This page is only Lilla Avlången.

Rainbow trout in a very small forest lake often sit along the banks. After a stocking it can sit tight. Pressure from other anglers is felt quickly.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

The association allows spin fishing, bait fishing, ice fishing and fly fishing in the Avlången lakes. In Tordyveln only fly is allowed — that is not this lake. One rod per angler. Wind shelters, barbecue sites and access for people with reduced mobility are mentioned.

Validity times and the gate toward the reserve change. Check current rules with the permit seller the day you go.

Lures and flies

Small spoons and spinners in silver, white or orange are a common start. On fly: a nymph along the bank. The tips are general for rainbow trout in tarns.

Move carefully. It is protected nature.

When they bite

Morning and evening are often best. The permit is a day permit with clock times at the seller. Closure ahead of a competition you read with the association.

Getting there

The map pin is the named lake Lilla Avlången, Surahammar municipality. Drive toward Virsbo and in toward Stora Flyten. The gate can be closed outside fishing hours.

On iFiske: first a season card, then the Avlången permit. The Virsbosjön permit does not apply in this lake.

Rules

Always check the current rules with the permit seller. The permit is personal. Quota and what is required besides the day permit belong to the association and they change. Children up to fifteen fish according to the seller in company with an adult who has a permit, on the adult’s terms in the salmonid waters.

The lake is marked as family-friendly with wind shelter, barbecue, access for people with reduced mobility and a clear child rule. It is still a nature reserve with a forest road.
