Hökåstjärn

Hökåstjärn is put and take in Ånge municipality, in Komsta Åse FVOF. The association stocks brown trout and Arctic char. The same area permit as Andalstjärn, not the Gottjärn permit. Not Hökensås in Västergötland. We do not sell the permits — buy via the permit seller.

Species

Brown trout and Arctic char are the main species. This page is Hökåstjärn north of Fränsta.

Typical of forest tarns: the fish can sit along the edge after stocking.

Both brown trout and Arctic char like cold, clear forest water. Arctic char often sit deeper and cooler than brown trout, especially in heat. Because you may not have a boat or float tube here you fish from the bank — plan how far you can reach. General species knowledge, not a sounding of Hökåstjärn.

Fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing

Here: fly fishing, spin fishing and bait fishing until the seller says otherwise. Boats and float tubes are banned according to the municipality.

The association mentions a wind shelter with a fireplace at the parking.

Lures and flies

Small spinners, spoons and nymphs are a common start. If you cannot reach with the fly from the bank, a small spoon or a float with a nymph under it is a way to get further. Arctic char often take small, glittering patterns near the bottom. The tips are general and therefore not specific to Hökåstjärn.

When they bite

Stocking is decided by the manager. Check an open permit with the seller.

Brown trout and Arctic char bite best in cool water — early and late season, and morning and evening in summer. In strong heat Arctic char especially pull deeper and go slower.

Getting there

The map pin sits at Hökåstjärnen in Ånge municipality, north of Fränsta toward Gissjö according to the association. Not Hökensås and not Gottjärn.

Take your rubbish home. The map on this site is a pin, not a parking map. Fires only where it is prepared unless there is a fire ban.

Rules
