Do I need a fishing permit?

Yes. You do not fish put and take without a permit. The permit is the card for the water you stand at — not a national “Sweden card”, not a fishery card from another lake, and not the right of public access.

Why is the right of public access not enough?

Allemansrätten is about moving in nature under responsibility, not about fishing. Fishing rights belong to whoever manages the water. In put and take that is the club, camp or operator who stocks the fish, sets the rules and sells the card. Without that card you are not fishing legally, even if the car park is open.

More: public access and fishing.

Where do I buy the card?

From the seller. On every published water we have a Buy permit button. It goes to iFiske, the club’s site, Swish, a machine or a shop — whatever actually applies there. Put and Take Sverige does not take payment.

We do not publish a water without that link (or documented sale on site). How it works: the permit and do we sell permits?

Does one card work everywhere?

No. A day ticket at a pond in Småland does not cover a tarn in Dalarna. Sometimes the same seller covers several ponds at one camp — that stands with them, not as a general rule here.

Children, guests and extra rods

The seller’s rules decide. Some cards cover a family, others are per person and day. Rods, bait, fly only and age limits belong on the seller’s page. Check there, not in an old post. Open the water on the map before you go.
